Members of the Brain and Development lab are involved in several courses at Leiden University. Here you find a short overview of these classes and possibilities to get involved in current research projects.

Bachelor courses:

Social-Emotional Development

This class covers current theories on emotion development (part A) and the biological basis of changes in emotional and social processes across childhood and adolescence (part B). Our lab gives part B (5 weeks). The next series is offered in spring 2009. The class is given in Dutch only. For more information, see: Studiegids

Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience

This class covers the biological bases of cognitive functioning from a developmental perspective, focusing on both infancy and childhood. Objectives are to 1) explore relevant theoretical debates in developmental science and neuroscience methods used to address the relevant questions in this field, and 2) consideration of the major methods of developmental cognitive neuroscience including functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), recordings of evoked response potentials (ERPs), and behavioral marker tasks. We will devote particular attention to the unique challenges of applying these methods to the study of children. The class is given in English and is open to research master students from Leiden and other universities. For more information, see: Studiegids

Designing an Empirical Study

The aim of this course is to teach students in the research master - regardless of their area of specialization - about a variety of approaches and methods that can be used in psychological research. Our lab gives two courses in this research master course. For more information, see: Studiegids
